Repairing Homes, Transforming Lives
The Appalachia Service Project (ASP) provides one of the most rewarding structured service opportunities in the nation – bringing volunteers like us at Grace Congregational UCC to rural Central Appalachia to repair homes for low-income families.
- Warmer. Safer. Drier. – ASP volunteers provide high-quality home repair for Appalachian families.
- Relationship Ministry – ASP volunteers and families develop life-long relationships.
- Transformation – Everyone who comes into contact with this ministry is transformed.
Every summer, Grace Congregational United Church of Christ sends a team of youth (finished 9th grade and older), youth adults, and adult chaperones on a week-long mission trip with ASP. Usually we travel to Kentucky or West Virgina. In even-numbered years, the trip is usually in July, odd years in June. God calls us to serve our neighbors near and far. ASP is one of the ways we answer that call.
In 2023, we will be traveling the week of June 17-24 to Wyoming County, West Viginia.
Our Practice Build day is Saturday, May 13th, 9am-3pm at Woodland Dunes
Our “send-off” service for church will be Sunday, June 11, 9am at Woodland Dunes
2023 theme is based on Luke 10:27 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind and Love your neighbor as yourself”
