On Friday, August 29, 2025, from 5:30-8pm, we’re having an ASP Reunion Party bonfire in the church yard! All past Appalachia Service Project participants, anyone considering going in the future, plus family and friends are invited. We’ll have a taco bar, smores, and yard games. Repairing Homes, Transforming Lives
The Appalachia Service Project (ASP) provides one of the most rewarding structured service opportunities in the nation – bringing volunteers like us at Grace Congregational UCC to rural Central Appalachia to repair homes for low-income families.
Our WHY’s
- Warmer. Safer. Drier. – ASP volunteers provide high-quality home repair for Appalachian families.
- Relationship Ministry – ASP volunteers and families develop life-long relationships.
- Transformation – Everyone who comes into contact with this ministry is transformed.
Every summer, Grace Congregational United Church of Christ sends a team of youth (finished 9th grade and older), youth adults, and adult chaperones on a week-long mission trip with ASP. Usually we travel to Kentucky or West Virgina. In even-numbered years, the trip is usually in July, odd years in June. God calls us to serve our neighbors near and far. ASP is one of the ways we answer that call.
ASP 2025
In June of 2025, we traveled to Fayette County, WV.
The 2025 theme was “Be the Light”, based on Matthew 5:16 (NIV) “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
