One of the things that Jesus did all the time was eat meals with people…. so much so that he got a reputation for being a “glutton and a drunkard”! His opponents accused him of eating with all the wrong people (“sinners and tax collectors”, see Luke 7:34 and Matthew 11:19). Jesus told stories that imagined God’s kingdom as a huge, celebratory feast that welcomed all – not just the well-to-do but anybody off the street, including folks who were poor and disabled (Luke 14). When crowds gathered to hear him speak, he fed them, several thousand people sitting down to eat together in Jesus’s presence (Matthew 14 and John 6). And as his arrest loomed ever-closer, he gathered his friends for one final meal together, sharing bread and cup even with the one who would betray him… and as he did so, he told them: Everytime you eat together, remember me.

Needless to say, food – giving it and sharing it together – was at the very core of Jesus’s ministry. And so this year we launch a brand-new, mid-week worship experience called Dinner Church. We’ll gather and worship just as the earliest Jesus followers did: sitting around a meal table to share stories, pray, reflect, and sing together. Gathered around a table, we bring our whole selves into the space – our bodies that need food, our spirits that need connection and community, our minds that need a chance to reflect and stretch and grow. I pray that this time will feed us in body, mind, and spirit.

Join us 6-7pm, every month on the second Wednesday:
October 8, November 12, December 10
January 14, February 11, March 11, April 8, May 13, and June 10

We’re trying our best to plan for different dietary needs, but if you have specific concerns please contact our church office so we can best welcome you there.

As any worship service of our community, it is open to ALL who wish to come.
And at our church when we say all, we mean it:
babies, kids, or adults; married or single; LGBTQ+; able-bodied or those with disabilities; any race or nationality; any economic status or education…. you are welcome!
